Kyoto- Arashiyama - Hozukyo Gorge - Kameoka
This is a cycling route that takes you on an ancient road from Kyoto City through the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Hozukyo Gorge to Kameoka.
The forest ride along the river is exhilarating, and you can see the Sagano trolley train and the Hozugawa river rafting.
Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama
Once you leave the Katsura River bicycle path, you will see Togetsukyo Bridge, a symbol of Arashiyama, Kyoto.
Please be careful when cycling during the day as there are many tourists.
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is one of the most popular tourist spots in Kyoto City. You can stroll along the bamboo forest path that spreads out as far as the eye can see. The road is narrow and there are many tourists, so please ride slowly.
Saga Toriimoto Traditional Buildings Preservation District
On the way from the Arashiyama bamboo forest to Mt. Atago, you will come across the Saga Toriimoto Traditional Buildings Preservation District, with its beautiful old-fashioned townscape.
Atago Shrine First Torii Gate
This torii gate is the landmark to get to Rokucho Pass, which leads to Hozukyo Gorge. From here, the scenery changes and you start cycling up a forest road, but it doesn't last very long.
Rokucho Pass
Rokucho Pass is popular with local cyclists because it has many hairpin curves and beautiful scenery. Cars occasionally pass by, so please be careful when riding downhill, especially.
Hozukyo Gorge
A narrow forest road runs along the river and the view from here is amazing. You can see boats carrying tourists down the Hozu River and the Sagano Scenic Train. The highlight is the autumn foliage season when the mountains are colored in color. This is a little-known cycling course, but since the road is bumpy, we recommend a bicycle with slightly thicker tires.
To Kameoka City
Although it is a forest road, it is relatively easy to ride, and after passing through it, you will emerge into Kameoka City, a town next to Kyoto City.
